- american football:
I've loved football for almost as long as I can remember. I remember watching the Philadelphia Eagles lose the Super Bowl to the Oakland Raiders in 1981 - as I'm fond of saying, they broke my little nine year-old heart. - bicycling:
I really ought to bike more. I bought myself a new bike several years ago when I was working and I barely ride it. I'm so bad. - conlangs:
I speak Klingon. You guys know that, right? :) I've learnt a teeny bit of Lojban. I also have done work on a few conlangs of my own, which are showcased on my website. I'm fascinated with languages of all sorts. I love to learn new languages because I love discovering new ways to express things. - dice:
I. Love. Dice.
They're so little and pretty and bouncity-bouncy-bdoink! It's exciting when I roll dice for results when I roleplay. I don't feel like I've really accomplished anything unless I've rolled at least one time during a session.
I. Love. Dice. - dungeons and dragons:
I've played D&D since I was about 10 years old. I went to the Lehigh Valley Mall with my parents and promptly got lost. It was the first time I'd ever been to such a big mall. My only experience with malls had been the Richland Mall in Quakertown and that was a little thing. But I found my parents and got the D&D Basic Set in the red box with Larry Elmore's awesome painting on the box. And it came with DICE (q.v.)!
I ran games and my little brother played characters. Well, I played one or two too. Before we had the rules we kind of made up our own, based on the choose-your-own-adventure-with-dice books I had and our obsession with Masters of the Universe. Fun times. - electric guitar:
I saw a schoolmate play guitar at school one day and thought, "That's so cool." When I got home I realised my mom's old electric was in the closet. I pulled it out, got a book on learning to play, and dug in. My first pick was the plastic thing you put on the top of a drink bottle that has a metal bottlecap -- you know, so if you want to save the rest and you don't want it to go flat? Big honkin' thing compared to real picks. But my dad took me to a music store in Blue Bell to get real picks soon after I started. I used to think (and still do sometimes) how much of a shame it was that my mom was gone -- she'd been trying to learn to play guitar with a book and record set and hadn't gotten far. "I could so teach you this -- it's easy!" I thought. Bummer. - footy:
Thank heaven for Fox Sports World, who show an AFL game every week and highlights at other times. "Footy", for those who don't know, is Australian Rules Football, not to be confused with Rugby Union or Rugby League, which are different games. I don't know much about footy yet, but I'm getting a strong feel for the game just by watching it.
Go the Swannies! - gi joe:
I've been a Joe fan since I was about 12, I guess. Whenever the toy line first came out. I watched the advertisement for the VAMP and Breaker and begged to go to Ames (ah, Ames, home of all things 3 3/4" and drool-worthy) to get a figure. Breaker was my first and my favorite, 'cos of all the neat gear he came with. I thought it was awesome that he had a helmet and a communications headset that attached to it which plugged into his backpack. That was too keen. He didn't come with a weapon but he didn't need it. He was cool. - klingon language:
I've spoken Klingon for over 10 years, which is scary. I love languages and I like Star Trek, so when I saw a book on the shelf at Waldenbooks which actually had a _grammar_ I had to have it. And the rest, as they say, is history. - roleplaying:
I live for the (usually) weekly opportunity to become someone else for a few hours. I love hanging out with my friends, but it's so much better when I can spend the time playing my evil rogue and scheming the night away. (Can you hear the wheels turning in his head? Oh, they're turning, I assure you. All the time, baby.)

3. My spelling may be bad, but.... nuqDaq yuch Da'pol? (But then, I say that's a darned useful question in any language.)
7. Part of my odd sport fandom is for footy. Though I've given up my desire to be a goal judge, since they changed the uniform. No more cool hats (and trenchcoats in cold weather) for the goal judges. :( The goal and behind signals are still the coolest signals ever, though.
